I went out today and checked the condition of the trail (C2H). It is in general fair condition with better snow north of Groton. There are a couple of downed trees between Rt38 and Clark St Ext. I will be going out tomorrow with a saw to clear them and sign the new route up through the wood lot.

Got about 4" of new snow and now it has warmed up a bit and is settling nicely. If the wannabes don't tear it all up too much, it'll make a decent base.

I got my sled ready to try out. Unfortunately the drifters website says all trails closed and stay off. We got about 6 inches here.

We're open up here, 6+" and accumulating more. Trails are packing in nicely with the warmer temps.

I updated the DCDrifters web site this morning indicating that trails are now open. Hopefully, we'll get enough so we can groom soon.
I'm going to go out and see how the trails look today.

Trails in berkshire are SHOT. Stay home. I did the loop from Jewett Hill road - breakfast cabin - over the hill - over west creek road - Brummage road - Mc Mahon Road- Jewett. I thought I broke my A-arm twice!! We need a foot more snow. I did the 15 mile loop just to see.
We have work to do between Lous breakfast cabin and West creek. The pricker bushes have over run the trail. It was VERY bad. Almost needed a 4 wheeler to get thru it!!! I volunteer to help anyone with a 4 wheeler that wants to go thru it with shears to cut crap down. I am not running my sled back thru there. Man is is bad.
EMTP579 was with me. We decided to try it out after our up north ride. Big mistake but was a learning experience to figure out what we need to work on. A few signs need to be put up too.
The trails around Lous cabin are pure mud.
Someone call me 657-4490 and I will help clear trails to make the passable when we do have snow

Was out yesterday, C2H is good, only a few windblown thin spots. Most of it was nice deep powder and I still have a couple of areas to trim back. (mostly on the rail beds on both sides of Groton)
The base is building nicely, if the weather reports are correct, we should be able to groom any time.

I hope that we get some snow without the wind. The poor fields are blown really badly. Really want to be able to do some local riding.

Getting some more posts so that I can finish signing the fields. Groomer guys said that they got lost not far from my house on Wednesday night. I asked them why I was not called?

^ A friend told me about some big signing problems on groton trails. I am sending him your link so maybe he can help you.
I am trying to get the club to put gas tax sheets in the gas station and not just on the website as people won't use it. Much easier if in the gas stations. I also emailed about groomers using this website when they got home to tell us they groomed if possible. I got told that probabally won't happen because those guys are already spending the most time helping the club.. I then offered to be a groomer operator again so maybe they will take it since it sounds like we need it.
I don't know when the trail in berkshire will be cleared. They told me no 4 wheelers allowed.. have to use the skandic with a trailer and I don't have access to that and it sounds like the people that do are very busy.
