I wasnt sure exactly where this topic fits in so...
I want to raise the height of my bars on my 95 ZR700, they are way too close to my knees for my taste and I think they would be far more comfortable about 6" higher. I was wondering what you guys think would be better, taller bars or a riser? If I go the route of a riser, do I need a pivoting one? If I want the rise straight up and not back toward the driver, I would need to get a 15 or 30 degree riser correct? I wanted to upgrade the bars too, maybe something a little more modern looking, I like the idea of straight bars or a slight angle towards the rider, but want to keep the handwarmers, would I need to get aftermarket ones? What is the stock diameter of the bars now (my sled is not with me right now so I can't measure the diameter)? I know I'll need to get throttle and brake line extensions, I assume they are pretty much all the same right?

You can pretty much do anything you want. You are going to need to extend your throttle and brake cables for sure. The pivoting riser would be best. I had a 2 inch riser on my old Mach Z and loved it. I want to do the same to my cat but will have to wait. I think you can put pretty much any kind of bars on that you want as long as you can get your grips and stuff to mount.
Good luck.
