January 18th HHSC Poker Run

:)The weather looks great for the poker run, and the snow is just getting better.

Some of the details are:
*All of the Poker Runs are also food drives with proceeds going to the Southern Tier Food Bank
*Sunday, January 18th, 10 am until 4 pm, with the winner announced at 4 pm (you are welcome to ride earlier and later, but keep in mind most businesses don't open up that early on Sundays)
*Registration will be upstairs, come in through the door on the new deck
*Registration Fee: 1 hand for $10 plus can of food, 2 hands for $20 plus can of food, 3 hands for $25 plus can of food, bring as many cans of food as you like (you can substitute a dollar or more for a can of food)
*Cans of Poker chips will be placed all over our trail system, and could include/but not limited to: Little Lake Inn, Seabring Inn, Bull Hill, Radio Tower Road, etc...
*Hamburgers, hot dogs, chili, chips, beverages, and other assorted snacks will be available for purchase
*There will be snowmobile videos playing on the TV upstairs at the clubhouse (hopefully. if the TV isn't frozen!)

**Remember, ALL sleds should have: Current Registration, Insurance, Driver with a helmet, A working headlight, Drivers between the ages of 10 years old and 17 years old MUST have a Snowmobile Safety Certificate or card(have taken the snowmobile safety course) to be legal in NYS

This is a Family event, so leave the "show boating" home (or keep it in the fields away from people, if you really must)LOL

So we had an excellent turn out today for the HHSC Poker Run. Many people commented on how they had a great time (even the guy who got a speeding ticket next to the airstrip). I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of those who helped put this on, especially the ladies in the kitchen. I have to, it was my wife, daughters, and Marie Webster.(lol) Also I would like to thank (sounds like I just won an Emmy,lol) all of the people from the neighboring clubs who participated. Next Sunday we can meet at the American Legion in Trumansburg and ride their Poker Run. Check Trail Tamers website also, they have 3 Poker runs scheduled. Thanks to the guys who rode all the way from Owego. It is nice to be able to get on a sled and ride from county to county uninterrupted!

So here are the results from the Poker Run:
1st Place $155
2nd Place $100
3rd Place $80
4th Place $60
*With just a little under 100 hands (entries) sold.
Norm Rich won the 50/50 and donated half of it back to the club. Thanks Norm!!
Don Lewis donated 3 tickets to the Ice Race at the First Arena on February 20th that were raffled off, Thanks!
We also sold 16 Trail Maps
The food did great, almost bringing in as much money as the Poker Run.
We brought in a couple flats of cans of food, and some money also for people who didn't bring a can of food. We are going to continue to collect at the next two Poker Runs, and donate it after the last one. Great start so far!
So thanks again to everyone, and hope to see you at the next one with a friend!

P.S. If anyone knows the way from the clubhouse to Odessa, you might want to tell the 3 police sleds that are still wandering the hill. I guess they asked a few people, but no one knew the way!!(LMAO)

Hey Jim and all from the Horseheads Club. Our hats off to you guys. The trails were in nice shape for all the sleds that were there. We (Me Mike & Joe) put on over 50 miles and had a great time. We trailered up from Waverly. We came up a bit later and rode into the night. I had the best hand.....pair of 6's. Mike had Queen high, Joe had Ace high. We ran into the Police 3 times. We only saw them hand out one ticket. Loud exhaust. We did run into them outside of Odessa, and then the last time we ran into them was just before the clubhouse so they must have found their way back. ;D. Mike had no sticker, just his temp registration so they stopped us every time they saw us. There was alot of activity there. A number of people ice fishing and a motorcycle race on the lake. We made the stops, Little Lake Inn and the Seabring for food and drink. A good day overall!
