Can someone please post some examples of approved parking areas in the club's trail area. I had read about the VFW in Dryden which was a great ride. Are there others?

Here is the trail description for the route from Dryden to Groton and Summerhill.
Description of Groton Trail
This is the official trail description for the Dryden to Summerhill Trail route.
Starting where the trail to Virgil crosses Mott Rd in Dryden, make a left turn and follow along the roadside. The first stop sign will be at Hart Rd. Continue along Mott Rd until you get to George Jr. near the intersection of Herman Rd, you will have to drop onto the road for a bit. Make the right onto Herman Rd and proceed down the hill till you get to the gas pipeline crossing. Make a left into the field there and proceed west across to the next field. Pass to the south of a clump of trees and make a right, crossing the drainage channel and making the stop at Fall Creel Rd.
Proceed across Fall Creek Rd an make a right into the pasture and cross the old RR trestle. Make an immediate left and follow the fence to the opening that will take you through the wood lot. After passing through the wood lot, you will continue north across the fields to a hedgerow crossing. Continue due north and cross a Driveway. After the driveway, there is about a ¼ mile until you get to Hile School Rd stop sign.
After crossing Hile School Rd, you will make a Right and proceed east to the stop at Ed Hill Rd. From there you will continue east through a small wood lot and bear left as you exit. The next stop sign is at West Malloreyville Rd near the S curves. Cross and make a left to the next sign where you will cross back over to the west side of the road. Continue north through the hedgerow up to the stop at Rt 34B.
Cross 34B and continue north on the west side of Salt Rd to the stop at the intersection with Cemetery Lane. Cross tot he east side of Salt Rd and follow the cut up the hill through the pines then bear left and proceed north to the stop at Stevens Rd. Approximately ¼ mile from Stevens Rd, you will make a left turn and cross Salt Rd, continuing west to the sign for a right turn. Heading north again be cautious of the drainage ditch that you will cross.
Follow the arrows through several small fields and make a left at the next sign. Use caution in this section as it is quite rutted in the tractor path. Cross the next small field and make a left again after you enter the woods again. Travel south through the woods and across an overgrown pasture. Pass through the hedgerow and across another small field. Use caution crossing the drainage ditch in the tractor lane. Follow along the tree line to the next sign at which you will make a right turn. Follow the tractor lane west, using caution as there are several watter run across areas that are all marked. You are now at the stop sign at the gate in the pasture on Lick St near the intersection with South Main St.
Description of Groton Trail
After crossing Lick St, you will make a right turn an go behind the small house that is right there. Follow the signs to stay on the outer edge of these fields per landowner agreement. Make a left as you approach South Main St and then make another at the next sign and follow along the tree line. A short distance and there is a right that takes you west again then another left and a right and you are leaving the fields and entering wooded trail section again.
As you enter the woods, watch for the markers, there is a bear left to follow the logging trail that curves around heading northwest. Stay on this route until you come out of the woods. Bear left and go down the hill and make a right. You will reenter the woods again and then come to a “dry creek” use caution crossing it as there are quite a few stones that get washed down. Exit the wood into a pasture and make a right. Follow the markers and make a right out of the pasture back into woods again. This next section is a bit tight, but you make a left and then a right and you are now on the old RR bed. Follow the RR bed all the way into Groton to the stop at Rt38, Jacksons Auto Sales.
You are now directly across from the Ice Cream Caboose. Take the narrow alley to the left of it and go to the Extra Mart. You can get gas and food here and there is a place where you can park you sleds out of the way of other vehicles. They also have an area the can be used for “Drop and Ride”. Go through the lot until you get to Spring St. make a left and pass the Groton Hardware. Make a right and go through Conger Blvd Park. When you get to the foot bridge, there is a designated parking area. Walk across the bridge to get to several restaurants. The next stop sign is South Cortland St opposite Baker-Miller Lumber.
Travel north through the west side of their lot at a slow speed (15mph) and regain the RR bed. This will take you to Walpole Rd. where you will make a right and follow along side the road back up to Rt 38 and a stop.
Bear left to cross Rt38 and make a turn along Chipmans Corners Rd. Make a right at the sigh and go up through the woods to the open field. Stay along the trees until you see the pond and make a right back into the woods. Follow the markers through the woods and exit onto a large field. Go east bending around the red house that is there and stop at Clark St Ext (near the cemetery).
Description of Groton Trail
Cross and make a left after passing the gate. Go north until you pass the next gate and then make a right, Proceed through the bit of trees that are next and then get into a large field. At the next marker, you will bear right a bit and go straight across the field to the woods. Enter the woods and make a right and follow the path to the run off channel. Make a left and go a short way and make a right. Go up the hill, keeping right as it is a blind hill, and make a left at the top. Go around the fence and stop at the power pole at Lick St near rt 222 and Groton Cycle Center. (you can get supplies here. Ie: oil, belts, plugs, and other items.)
Cross and go along the trees on the edge of the field to the first hedgerow. Pass through here and go along the sheep pen to the next hedgerow. (Use caution here as on occasion, the sheep have gotten out.) Pass through and a small field is next. Go through the hedgerow and you come to a longer field where you can open it up a bit. One more hedgerow and you are through nearly back to Salt Rd. Make a right around the wood lot and another right at the corner of the field. Continue along the trees to the next and last hedgerow and then bear right to the stop at Old Stage Rd.
Cross and make an immediate right, running along the ditch to where it makes a left into the Water Works. Go straight through, traveling north ans there is a zig just as you exit into the field. Make a line along the trees and cross the next hedgerow. Turn left along the trees until you see the next marker and make a right across the field to the stop sign at Clark St Ext.
Cross and continuing straight north, you will pass two hedgerows. After the second one, you will look for the marker that will take you through the next hedgerow after this large field. Traveling in a NNE direction, you will cross another hedgerow and a smaller field until you pick up the gas pipeline route. There is a rather steep short hill to a drainage ditch with a bow bridge over it. Go slow. After the bridge, bear right across the field an see the marker near the shallow drainage ditch and tractor lane. Going due north until you pass the trees where you will make a right and proceed to the stop at Salt Rd near Stauber Rd.
Cross Salt Rd and go ENE to the stop on Stauber Rd.
Here ends our section of this trail. The rest is in Cayuga Co. and is maintained by Groton Ridgerunners of Summerhill.

I noticed some idiots were out today in the 2 inches that are on the trails. Unreal. That just got trails closed in Cortland. If I had seen them I would have taken their numbers down. I am sure that the tracks can be followed to a house or something. Maybe I will do that tommorrow night. I'll drive anyone want to come with I hope we get snow here.. I really want to try out the new groton trail !!
