I was at that meeting tonight and a bunch of people were talking and I could not speak up with questions.
From the meeting I gather that drifters members won't post here because it requires a log in but whatever.
If we have not made money off this raffle in over 3 years, why do we continue to make the prizes so big? Seems like everyone is working so hard to sell tickets just to break even.
I spent some time tonight looking at other clubs websites and I see nothing like what the drifters are doing.
Perhaps if we lowered the "purse" we could help raise money for the club. OR.. sell 5 dollar tickets.. OR change the wording on the tickets. Grand prize is 40% of the total take. Then 20% of the total take divided by 20 is the other take. So 21 prizes.. OR Grand prize is 20% of total take and 30% is divided up amongst 20 people.. More winners.
Most people who buy a ticket for this assume the money is going to help raise money for the club, not break even.
I recently raised money for the united way. People did not want to donate because we were asking to much. So we entered everyone into a raffle of 30+ prizes (winnings) that donated at least 12 dollars a year. Donations DOUBLED over previous years. Proof that when it is a smaller amount with more prizes more people donate to get their name in it.
What we are currently doing is alot of work for alot of people with no or very little payback to the cause.
Just my .02

I know that it's kinda late for this for this year, but perhaps you will bring this up at the next meeting and be willing to take over the running of the raffle for next season.
There is always room for input, you just have to make yourself heard. I know that you are not shy about that so speak up next time.

^ Sometimes it is hard to get a word in at the meetings.
We need to redo the raffle so that we are guaranteed to make the club money no matter how many tickets are sold.
I realize it is too late for this year but next year its got to change IMO..

Just my .02 Hey Matt and RJ- If there is any issues with the drifters using my website because of logging in, is there a way that you guys can bring it up at the meetings that the log in system is only there to keep spam out. The log in requires only a valid email to register thatn they can come and go as they please. I am a member of the drifters but can not make the meetings for obvious reasons but do not want to discourage others from using this forum. I think it could benefit the club to use my forum. Is there any internet access at the meetings where you could log in and show them the forum?

^ Rob they were talking about the new blogspot thing Jeff Bishop started for trail conditions. He said anyone can use it but they need his password to contribute. Everyone liked it. Then I mentioned to RJ why don't they just use TTS?! RJ then asked out loud why nobody uses TTS and they said because you have to log in and it is a pain.
Personally I thought the blogspot thing and getting his password for it sounded more difficult.
Some people will just not use forums and think they are a joke or waste of time or a pain.. I guess that is just the way it is going to be. It's too bad because forums are an incredible tool.

We did better than break even. At the time of the drawing at 6pm, we had sold most off the tickets. We ended up with less than 200 left over out of 1000 tickets printed.
