Your track should be a 121" long, 15" wide - 2.52 drive pitch track. Are you talking studs as in ice studs or are you talking lug height of the track? I think the stock track lug height was approx. 0.75" and ice studs for a track such as that would be something like 0.875". 96 studs would be enough for the average trail rider type guy. I'd be willing to be that if you studded the stock track with 1.25's, something is going to get torn up, since I have read that a 1" track is about all you can fit under there without running into issues. The track life question is a tough one......perhaps you can post a few good pics of the track here and we can go from there as to whether it's needing to be replaced. They can last a looooong time if cared for and not mis-used. Hope this helps! Duane

I agree....the track looks like it may have had better days, and it looks like a standard trail riding track to me, albeit an older school model. The stock track was .740, just short of 3/4" lug height, and I have read that you don't want to put anything more than a 1" on that sled or you run the risk of damaging the heat exchangers, and you don't want those problems.....trust me. If it were me, I'd replace the track with the stock height to avoid any problems.

right i got ya on that. i called this place M&R sports and they said a new track ripsaw is around 500 but the labor will kill me. was asking 75 an hour an he said it would take 3 hours.
There is an older guy across the street from me who buils custom hotrods and works on sleds and everything else. im gonna see if i pay him 100 bucks if he will install a track for me wich i dont see why he wouldnt.
When i first got the sled i thought it was on good condition but as i look at it more and more i notice small screwups but oh well i wont complain for 400 bucks. since today is beautiful im off to sand and prime.

It does not take 3 hours to change a track either. It is a pain in the ass but it does not take that long. Try and stay away from dealers they are a rip off IMO. Pay $20 and get a service manual and do as much work as you can yourself if possible. You will learn a lot and save money. I bet you can get a track off ebay for 400 shipped brand new.

Yeah i wasnt planning on paying the dealer to do it. I want to do it myself and save money im gonna get the service manual. In order to do that I have to transfer the Sled to my grandmas House because where I live i cant work on it.
hoping to get it moved there today.

Cool. I had a manual for my Mach Z. It was the same one the dealers were using. It gave step by step instructions and pictures to work with. it made it very easy. Yamaha has to have the same thing for their sleds. And plus if anything ever goes wrong the book will help you out there too. I actually enjoy working on the sled myself but it can be frustrating especially when you are by yourself! Good Luck.

well today I moved the Sled to my Grandmothers house because I can work on it easily there. I took the entire body off Sanded and Primed so im getting ready for Paint. I had to ride it throug the Grass to the backyard because this thing is friggen Heavy and its almost impossible to move. One thing I can say is that i have never ridden a sled before and all I can say is its a very awesome experience. The sled to me has some balls I under estimated the kind of power it almost through me off. I ordered a manual online from Midwest Manuals found here www.tradebit.com/filedetail.php/5422053-the-best-1994-2006-yamaha-venturev-max-600-seriesThe manual is really nice explains everything and it was only 7.88

I once ordered a CD manual from those folks and it was very useful....you can print out just what you need and everything you need to know is on that CD. If you think that sled was fun on the grass.....wait'll you get the ol' girl out in the snow man!
