RE: CALL FOR ACTION
MY GOAL IS TO GET NYS TO ADAPT A LIMITED USE PERMIT THAT WOULD ALLOW YOU TO USE YOUR VINTAGE (25YRS OR OLDER) SNOWMOBILES AT RELATED FUNCTIONS INCLUDING SHOWS, PARADES, FUND RAISERS ETC. ALSO LEGALLY RIDE TO AND FROM THE TRAIL SYSTEMS.
OTHER STATES THAT HAVE ALREADY ADAPTED THIS PERMIT INCLUDE MN, VT, MA, CT AND ME. MY RESEARCH IS STILL FINDING YET MORE ATTEMPTS IN OTHER STATES. THE FEES GENERALLY RUN BETWEEN $34 AND $45 FOR LIFETIME OWNERSHIP OF THESE SPECIAL SLEDS.
FOR THIS TO BECOME POSSIBLE HERE IN NYS, ALL OWNERS WOULD HAVE TO BE INVOLVED. THINGS I AM ASKING YOU TO DO ARE CONTACT YOUR LOCAL NYSSA REP, SPEAK UP AT YOUR NEXT LOCAL MEETING OR EVEN CONTACT ME WITH YOUR INTEREST.
MY CONTACT INFO IS AS FOLLOWS

I'm not really sure what you want us to do. The season is pretty much over so the site traffic has dropped to a minimum. If you have a plan for this vintage pass and need support we will help you no doubt about it. I like the vintage thing but I do not own a vintage sled. I have looked into it but that is as far as I got. The Horseheads club cancelled their vintage show this year so they could use their money for other events. That was pretty much my only connection to the vintage world. Everytime you post something about it, it gets read by everyone. There is not too many on this site as dedicated to the vintage sleds as you are so let us know what you need done to help you out and we can help. Right now is going to be tough (I'm assuming) because of how fast the season ended and with warmer weather coming.

John, I was just teasing you....didn't mean to offend you, and why would I tell anyone to take a hike? I do wish you luck, keep up the fight for your goal. I echo Robs thoughts above....let us know what we can do to help. Duane

John, The best opportunity is to go to as many "Vintage Shows" as possible and grab as much support as possible with a petition. The folks that are at these shows as you know are diehard vintage. You will definitely get the support. I believe there are 2 vintage shows posted on the site. 1 near Downsville NY and the other at Lakewood PA sponsored by the NEPA Sno Trails. Both excellent shows with big turnouts. Not too far from one another. I know its quite a jaunt from the Buffalo area. Bob

Yep,Sorry about the Hike thing ! Ive spent a ton of hrs on this from finding other states Vintage use laws,to dealing with NYSSA with its on the table statement, well its been on the table so long it stinks !! We,they talk about the history and what has been done with snowmobiling in NY and no honor is given to the history of sleds. If not for the past efforts of snowmobilers, now vintage,we would have no system as we know it now! They have a program for classic cars,I dont have 40,000 for a classic anything, and they get the same break for junk ! I feel its time for the average Joe of sledding with a classic sled to get his due,BK

Honestly, I never thought too much about this topic before but now that I've almost got my 81 SRX back together an definitely having plans on registering it I would almost definitely help out for something like this. specially since even though I've put alot of time and effort into this sled I can only imagine how different its going to ride than the Apex and after spending the money I have on the Apex I'm not going to just let it sit there all year!!
