We have a new State Park coming to the Waverly-Barton area. Years ago, the town took down all the snowmobile signs and passed an ordinance forbidding snowmobiles on town roads. How do snowmobile clubs deal with this? I would like to approach the town to reconsider since the State Park is going to allow snowmobiling. Any thoughts on this? Thanks and think snow!! Bob

I think we should contact the local clubs and see if they have any connections that could bring the issue up to the Village. I think we should definitely try to do something because that land around the horseshoe has a ton of good riding spots!

If an ordance was passed, I think you need to petition the town board. A lawyer may be the ticket if you can not reason with them.

Are there any trails around the waverly area? We zoom by Spencer all the time....never thought that there might be a way down to the valley....

nice job with the site rob.
Can you cross the bridge from the AC place, or do you have to drop from the other side? I thought i saw a track running by the rr tracks last week. That trail is listed on the state trail map....i just never see anyone use it....

Actually, we can get to VanEtten and Spencer via the railroad tracks along Rt34. We could probably hook up with the other clubs this way.

Does anyone know what the policy is for driving on snow covered back roads? Is there a difference if the sled is registered and insured or is there just one main policy no matter what?

you need to be registered and insured in NYS if you're on anything but your own property. You're only supposed to be on plowed roads to access trails, seasonal roads are ok....and if you're not caught you did nothing wrong.
