2day has been very frustrating after a great day Sunday. I've been having problems B4 starting my '82 Cutlass so I took out the B9 plugs that came with it when I bought it and put in BR9 as suggested and one pull and she fired right up (never started on one pull B4) and ran great for about the 3 hrs I ran. But once it warmed up it wouldn't hold the idle and when it shut off it would start right back up and run good. Today I tried to go for a little run (10 degrees out) and it would not start until I hit it with starter fluid and it fired right up but had no power when I tried to ride it. I pulled the plugs and one of them was covered in oil. So I cleaned it and it started right up but had the same problem. This is my first snowmobile so I know nothing about them. I'm scratching my head wondering how it ran so good Sunday, and like crap the next time I try to ride. So my questions are, can the carb cause that problem, will a spark plug non-fouler work temporarily. Right now it doesn't have an airbox on it but it does have a screen to prevent something from getting in the carb. I've been contacting several salvage yards but not getting any replies. I'm from Bath and have no idea who in my area can clean/adjust the carb and without charging an arm and a leg. Any help/ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

If the engine will start col on the first pull, that usually means that there is too much fuel going into it. As long as you run higher rpms, it's fine, but will not idle well if at all.
Usually points to either the chokes sticking or not sealing, or the needle valve is not sealing when the floats raise it to the limit.

Ok..I have to find someone around me to take it to because I definitely want to get the carb cleaned. I was advised to put a BR8 instead of a BR9 and it's been running great. I've rode it a lot and haven't had any problems except for it not wanting to idle once it's warmed up. Do you have any idea what the idle is supposed to be around? Thanks again.

Is this a pre-mix sled and if so, what ratio is the fuel-oil mixed at?
Also, is it a single or dual carb. set-up?
Duane
p.s. I agree with RJ, and would have the carb rebuilt if it hasn't been done in some time.

It's oil injection and it has one carb. I'm definitely looking to get the carb rebuilt if I can find someone to do it.,

What carb we talking about on this thing? I am doubting it is a mikuni VM 36.
Anyways, after it is warmed up, adjust your idle so she will stay running.
