My 02 Pantera electric start is acting up. It worked this morning on a cold start in the garage, but after fueling it would not engage the engine. I was able to pull start it OK. On subsequent trys it continues to just whirl without engaging. I have not had electric start since my dads 68 Polaris back in the early 70's, so I know nothing about how these systems work. Does anyone know what I should try to do to fix this?
Heading out for Whitney Point right now - see you on the trails!
Thanks,
Tim

Sounds like the gear in your starter is messed up. I'd start there.

I would try to jump the celonoid, test light your way down to starter, check all conections for loose wire in molded plugs, tighten power cables to starter. Last hold key to on and tap starter housing,to look for flat spot. Tell us how you made out,we can do more.......

Thanks for the replies. Oddly the starter worked just fine the rest of the day, even when we left the house right after I posted this message. Once it warms up outside I will try to check all the connections and make sure everything is tight as suggested.
