Hey guys, I just got done doing a top end overhaul of my, well my brothers ZRT 600 and I won't lie...it wasn't much fun nor very cheap but it is finally done and after this weekend should be back in the sled and ready to fire. I found that it had 2 broken engine mounts so I had to replace one and get the other welded. Also I found that the middle carburetor cable broke and wasn't giving the middle cylinder enough fuel which I'm assuming caused it to overheat and flood itself with oil that wasn't burning...I'm thinking this is what caused it to go down but who really knows...either way I got a new set of cables coming in and the sled should be ready to go. With the snow out west we gotta hope that some of it will make its way out this way. I know its only November but I've been ready for snow since June...So think snow and I'll get some pics or a video on here as soon as I get it all back together and running again!!!

Git R Done! I'm guessing you finally got your new throttle cable? I'll be home this time next week if you want to wait if you need an extra hand.

Well, here's the scoop so far...My Dad and I got to workin on the ZRT last night. I got the old carbs off and old cable off as well, wasn't too bad of a job just kinda tedious unhooking 9 million cables and whatnot but what can you do. So the cable came off pretty easily and what would you know, it didn't take long to figure out which one was broken. As soon I disconnect the carbs the tension from the piston and spring shot the needle and piston right out, there you go "found it" I said...no surprise but just glad its not the problem anymore. So with the help of my dad we got the new cables routed and all connected and carbs adjusted. So the next step is putting the engine back in, all we wanted to do was get it in and all wiring and fluids hooked up. we were gonna wait until tonight to get all the others hooked up, exhaust starter and whatnot...however, last season I broke 2 engine mounts so i replaced one and the other was the bump mount on the back of the engine, so not a true engine mount you can't buy one, so instead I welded. however, the weld made it not perfectly lined up anymore. So with a few little smacks with the trusty hammer it was where it needed to be...but now the mount itself didn't line up so today I have to do alittle table grindin to make it fit...tons of fun, but that's where I'm at...I'll let you know how it goes later and hopefully with some pictures and hopefully a video of it running!!! Think Snow!!!

I just seen this. I have done what you are doing. I think I MIGHT have a 96 ZRT 600 engine mount in my garage. Thats a big might. I had one, then bought my house, and I don't know if it made the move or not. Engine mounts breaking are very common in these sleds. One of mine has been welded. Also, check the middle front of the bulkhead. Mine broke there and had to weld that too. What pistons did you go with? I did the teflon coated SPI's. As far as the clutch cables go. I did a write up on how to set them. See that here www.snowmobilefanatics.com/forum/topic/85294/display.aspxI sent that to ROB last year when he said his brother was having problems with the center cylinder on his sled. I had the SAME problem..all the same problems you were having. I figured it out, got new cables, and did a top end rebuild. Did I read you got new throttle cables too? I did that. Had to reset the oil injection. I have very detailed pictures of that process in a thread I made while rebuilding my sled. Let me know if they are required and I will link you.
