Today I broke trail from Yellow Barn to Hammond Hill. Trails were beautiful in the woods and along hedge rows, anywhere protected from wind. Open fields were windswept, clean of new snow, but had a pretty good snow/ice base. Plenty of snow on Hammond Hill and Star Stanton, however some yahoo went in that area with a four by four and rutted up Star Stanton from the snow plow turn around part way down Star Stanton to the east of Canaan. He got mired in but got turned around and then proceeded to head south on down Canaan road rutting up the trail prior to the freeze of last night. These ruts are deep enough to flip a sled, as I found out. There is plenty of snow and these trails could/should be groomed.
