There is still good riding to be had other places too, so don't be too discouraged. You may want to just call up there and see how much of an impact it is. You would not beleive how much more snow there is up there than when we were there. www.pennsleddogclub.com/events/2007-2008/tughill.html

My son and I are going to be up in Pulaski Friday night to Tuesday afternoon. Thank you for the report on the snow. To bad that the lower tier did not get the snow that we got at home. The only thing we lack is a trail system.

I only got one ride in down there this year - I rode through the Liberty/ WSS/ Parksville area one night. The following day we rode in Downsville at the state park there.

Trail Conditions and Grooming in the Winona Forest
9:00 PM Thursday Feburary 28th, 2008 Current temperature 6 degrees (it's cold out there), with a very light snow falling now and then.
Grooming took place on the main trails south of County Route 90 today.
Goomed today was;
All of Bargey Road from the CCC Camp to the Town Hall Hawley Road All of Wart Road All of Hessel Franks Fancey from Hessel to Bargey All of Tail Trail All of Dog Leg and Dog Leg Extension Those trails groomed are in excellent condition and should make for a great weekend.
Grooming will be taking place all day friday on the main trails north of County Route 90.
In addition there will be teams on the woodland trails making them ready for yet another excellent weekend of fun for everyone.
We will post an update tomorrow night and report what was done on what trails.
At this time our plan is to set double tracks on woodland trails south of Hawley.
Woodland trails between Hawley and North Church will only have one set of tracks set, allowing more room for skate skiing.
Everything north of North Church will be flat groomed only.
Please let us know how this works out for everyone. It is extremely important that we get feedback as to this type of plan. Thanks in advance. Email your Trailsteward. trailsteward@winonaforest.com
Have a safe and enjoyable weekend.

Winona kicks butt. They got nearly a foot of new snow over the last few days and their base was perfect. There was not much traffic today, but those of us that rode were treated to a great ride. It snowed like mad today. On the way up it was so bad that I actually stopped at the Grist Mill and rode about 55 miles between Parish, Williamstown, and Altmar. By the time I did that it slowed down enough so the roads were better and I could go more than 20 to get to Winona. I then rode about 70 miles at Winona. Many of the trails had not been ridden since the snow so I was able to spend alot of time with fresh powder on top of groomed trails. It was sweet. Nothing broke either! They are in such good shape that barring a true temp/ rain disaster they probably have a few weeks more of riding. I had a chance to meet the guy that runs the club (I thanked him for his work!) and he said some of their areas have a 1' packed base. I was told that the Hill was in good shape too, but I did not go up there at all. Here are a few pics - the wind was howling as well - 30 MPH but the temp was perfect about 25 - not too warm or cold.

Great that you got back out there Dan. You don't mess around. I can only hope I can ride like that next year. I got a couple good rides in this year but wish I could go out like you have! Awesome pics.

Trails were very nice yesterday and it was a beautiful sunny day with lots of snow and ice still on the trees. This made it very pretty, but had to deal with face slappers quite a bit. It had not been groomed, but low traffic after the snow made it good. I met Tug Hill Addict(Dana) from the P-B club out grooming(on Little John Rd) and helped him with some down stuff. We should do a group ride up there next year. A big thanks to all the guys on this board for making me aware of Winona! Norman

You guys are killing me..
Do I want to save money because I am bidding on houses? Do I want to save money because I am getting a new apartment? Do I want to order up the motorcycle parts I need? Or do I want to trailer up to winona and just ride?
haha..

Matt - all it will cost is the gas for your sled . . . it wont be that much hahaa.
By the way, I plan to go up on Saturday for a probable last ride for the seaason - conditions look better than ever with a promising forecast - many of the trails in excellent condition:
Snow is expected to fall through Wednesday day, with 1 to 2 inches of new snow and a temperature high in the upper 20’s. Wednesday night is expected to be clear. Thursday day is expected to be clear with a temperature high in the upper 20’s. Snow may fall Thursday night. There’s a chance of rain and snow on Friday day. Snow is expected by Friday night. Saturday day is expected to be clear, with possible snow by evening. Sunday may bring more snow, with a temperature high in the upper 20‘s. We’ll see what develops…

Last run to Winona Friday. I think today will be the better day, but I do have to work now and again(or so my creditors say!). Norman
