I don't know how far it is for some of you guys, but we got hammered with snow down this way. The riding is absolutely awsome. It dosn't look like it 's going to last with the weather predicted for next week. Check out www.delawarevalleyridgeriders.com.

Based on this post my brother and I went down there yesterday and WOW, what a great ride. We did about 70 miles inside the forest preserve. They are horse trails in the summer and snowmobile/ xc ski trails in the winter. A nice mix of hilly wooded riding and open road riding - felt very much like a ride at tug hill. The trails were groomed, pretty smooth, and very few water holes. Another nice thing is that there were very few road crossings. There were 2 parking areas that sledders dropped - one on each end of the park. There is also a trail to town that we did not take. The area is called bear spring. It was great.
To get there we took exit 90 to Rt. 30. We turned left by some red buildings onto trout creek rd. and then drove a few more miles to the equestrian day parking lot. Trail right there. I was coming from downstate at the time, so I am sure there is a shorter way from up this way.
This was a hidden gem. I hope the conditions get back to this good as I will go back. Thanks for posting this tip!

Another good area is Hamden www.hamdenhillridgeriders.com/ on NY RT 10 on up and through Stamford www.cctrail.com/ NY 23 & 10. In Hamden I have parked at Bills trailer sales and in Stamford I have parked at a great pizza restaurant just south of 23 on 10. It is great to see that this site is working like it should!

Sorry I didn't reply sooner with directions I was away for the weekend. Riding was about as good as it gets this weekend at Bear Spring. It is usually groomed for the weekend. If you get off the East Branch exit, I'm not sure of the number it takes you right into Downsville and you can also park at the Schoolhouse Inn right in town. Plenty of parking and good food too. The weather right now is 33 and dosn't look good for the next couple of days. But it's supposed to be cold again by next weekend so there should be enough snow left for a base. You can also ride from Downsville into Roscoe, about 30 miles, if you like real wooded narrow trails. Kind of a nice change sometimes. ;D

elrod, would you be up for a day ride sometime in that area? I would like to get a few guys and meet up down there and maybe do a day ride. If you are available maybe you could be our tour guide!
I think it's a little under 2 hours from Waverly but would be worth it for some good riding!

Absolutely Rob, I'll keep you posted on the conditions, they don't look too promising for this week our snow is taking an awful beating. It's only early January though, we have a lot of winter to go yet.

I was reading up on this post because I had a conversation today about the Catskill Park. I did a little research and read up on some of your posts. I would really like to try this ride this year. I drove right through there on the way to my friends house who lives in Delhi. It was the summer but said to myself I bet the riding would be awesome here. Not thinking that this is where you guys rode from! Looks like a winner to me!

It was some great riding from there. Took me a little over an hour to get to Bear Spring Mountain. It was a great secret that was revealed on this board!

I go to Roxbury semi-regularly for work. I see a lot of decent trails along 23 and 30. Have often thought about making a day trip of it.
