98 Yamaha VMAX 600 XTC. 10xx miles. Beaten on almost daily (bought it 2 years ago with 20 miles on it. No time to ride it last year) Mods: - bent handlebar - broken fuel gauge (I love walking 2 miles with a gas can, really) - bent right tie rod - quick-release windshield (needed for bent handlebar mod) Plans: - riser of some sort. I stand a lot - remove current graphics and possibly replace with black reflective ones (if any) - possibly clutch it, once I figure out if I want to - replace current studs - new carbides 92 Polaris 440 Indy Sport. 3400 miles. Blowed-up Mods: - freshly rebuilt FOX front shocks/springs - plastic ski runners/cover things - some kind of special brand new carbides - high flow piston (see above) - bent/warped, cracked, discolored windshield - slightly cracked hood (better cooling, right??) - added lightness (removed mouse nests, caked on dirt, etc) Plans: - M-10 rear suspension - new track with studs - try to see about shoe-horning a 500 or bigger motor in there (rebuild stocker if it's a lost cause) - repair/repaint hood. Possibly get stupid with fiberglass work Garage now houses the car "project" so unfortunately both snow mobiles are outside.

Thanks
I like the bent handlebar mod over the tie rod, personally. I notice more of a lack of being able to right turn with that. It also helps when the brake lever hits the edge of the windshield mid-turn. I kind of feel like Zoolander at the moment. I'll have to try the bent ski mod, although my budget is a little limited at the moment.
If anybody cares, the sled was lent out when I first got it. The guy that borrowed it rolled it, this bending the tie rod and handlebar. That's also when the fuel gauge stopped working, and the original windshield obviously cracked. Luckily he hasn't paid for any of the damages, since of course "it wasn't his fault."
The story on the Polaris is 100% my fault. My father bought it once he knew I was moving up here, so I could fix it. Thing hadn't been started in over 4 years before I got to it. I went over the thing with a fine tooth comb. Started 1st pull, idled smooth as silk when I was done with it. Only rode it across the yard since there was no snow last year - thing felt strong (for a 440). Then I went for its inaugural ride...4 miles out was the great meltdown. Sucked since the thing was running strong (again, for a 440) and handled like it was on rails, even on the road. The rear suspension handled the larger bumps fine, but I almost got launched on the tiny ones...that was odd. Oh well, it will live once again and hopefully this time stay alive for a while.
