Layered up and ready to go.... I will admit I added a layer this morning! It's been this cold before. New Years day had wind chills -20+ and we did fine. I will post a report when we return..... Better than a day at work...... ;D

Could be worse! That is a warm spell for those who live and ride in Minnesota and Wisconsin area. I think it was down near like -40 or something like that. I think they broke a record low. Either way I would ride too if I had the opportunity. You can always remove layers if you get too hot.

All I can say is WOW..... ;D Once again about 85% Virgin Groomed trails, only saw 3 other sleds all day long. Flat and Fast. Was a awesome day. Dropped at 9am and did about 99 miles. Cold was not that bad the extra layer did the trick.

We're thinking of dropping at the bus turn-around and heading towards DeRuyter to grab some chow-gas. Got any other destinations (directions) that we should try other than that Clayton? Chow and fuel are a must basically..... We should be there unloading at about 11:30. Duane

We did a slightly different route today, a few different trails that we have not done previously. The only trails that were iffy was when we got into Lafayette itself, very narrow and bumpy but rideable. Small section of trail maybe a mile? If you take the left just before Telephone road that is Tower Road or North Tower Road, go all the way to the end (seems like forever) there is a snow plow turnaround just turn around there and park along the road, that is where they like you to park now. Puts you right at a trail head and underneath the Tower. I may try and meet up with you, I'm awaiting a phone call from a friend may head up earlier? I will call you in the morning if I'm going to try and meet you. Last week we were going to head towards Chenango County, started that way but took a wrong turn. Did hit some sweet truck trails over that way.

Did hit some sweet truck trails over that way. Ok, cool....according to mapquest it is N. Tower Rd. which eventually turns to Tower Rd., which runs all the way up Cheningo Rd., so I guess what I'm asking is, where is the snow plow turn around located on that road? Can we not drop at the bus turn around on Kiwanis Rd. where we did last time? I should be in cell service areas by about 10 or so..... We'll still plan on ripping on over to DeRuyter for the gas-chow stop....maybe we'll head over towards Cincinnatus (sp) before that to see if my big drifts (lol) are still hit-able..... ;D

You can do the bus parking area, I like the Tower road spot right at the trail head and plenty of room up there.
Larger pic is on it's way! ;D If you have Map Source for Garmin I could just send you the track file as well.

I don't have Map Source, I am going to have to sit down and talk with you guys on the whole GPS deal sometime. How will I know when I am at the Tower Rd. deal, is it really all the way up to Cheningo Rd., or somewhere prior to that? I'm guessing I can see the "Tower" from the road? I'll stop bugging you with questions now....honest! LOL Duane

It dead ends, once you turn onto tower road just follow up to the end, probably 2 miles. The road will Y about a mile up stay to the right. You cant miss the end!

Ok, according to mapquest, the "Y" off of N. Tower Rd., which Y's to the right is about 1/2 - 3/4 mi. up, is of all things "Wildman Rd." LOL. We'll check that out....if we miss the end of a dead end Rd. we have issues man! hahaha..... Thanks again chief!

I really have no knowledge of any of the trails up that way and that might help me out a little.
